113th Sea Prince Cultural Festival
Every year on the 18th day of the sixth lunar month, the birthday of the Prince of Chi, a sea procession is held to represent the Prince's visit to the sea and protect the local fishermen. This tradition has lasted for more than 30 years and is an annual event in the area. When the Prince's fleet approaches the port, it will circle the sea three times.
Fireworks are set off to announce the success of the procession, and temples along the coast greet the procession with cannon fire. This is a religious activity that is unique to the north.
After the king's sea pilgrimage returned to Waimushan Fishing Port, firecrackers were set off on the boat to inform the villagers that the king had returned successfully. Long cannons were fired on the shore to welcome the new year and pray for peace and success. This was then combined with the local Zhongyuan Festival to combine the meanings of respecting the dead, commemorating ancestors, sympathizing with the heavens and the people, and ethnic integration, becoming a local cultural feature of Waimushan.
